STATELINE LAW / INFORMATION

Sources & Research Approach

StateLine is designed to make legal-reference summaries traceable to their sources.

Original authority first

StateLine may use constitutions, statutes, regulations, judicial opinions, agency materials, and other government sources. When a summary includes a citation, the cited authority remains the reference point. A StateLine explanation is not itself legal authority.

Source-check dates

A source-check date records when the cited material was checked for the beta. It is not the same thing as a statute’s effective date, a court’s decision date, or a guarantee that the law has not changed afterward.

Coverage

Coverage varies by topic and jurisdiction. A missing StateLine entry does not mean no law exists, and a summary may not capture every exception, local rule, federal requirement, court order, or factual distinction.

Corrections

If a summary appears inconsistent with its cited source, use the underlying authority as the reference point. A dedicated public support contact will be published before the public mobile-app release.
