STATELINE LAW / INFORMATION
Terms of Use
Effective September 8, 2026
1. Legal information service
StateLine Law provides legal-reference tools, jurisdictional information, legal-source retrieval, state comparisons, and plain-English explanations. StateLine is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation.
2. Not legal advice
Information provided through StateLine is for informational and educational purposes. Nothing provided by StateLine constitutes legal advice concerning your specific situation. You are responsible for deciding whether professional legal advice is appropriate.
3. No attorney-client relationship
Using StateLine does not create an attorney-client relationship, fiduciary relationship, legal representation, attorney-client privilege, or attorney work-product protection.
4. Jurisdiction matters
Legal rules vary by jurisdiction, date, subject matter, and individual facts. StateLine’s identification of a jurisdiction does not guarantee that every potentially applicable jurisdiction or body of law has been identified.
5. Legal sources
StateLine may provide citations or links to constitutions, statutes, regulations, judicial opinions, administrative materials, government guidance, and other sources. Review the cited authority when making decisions with legal consequences. A StateLine summary does not replace the underlying legal source.
6. Accuracy and completeness
Laws and legal interpretations can change. StateLine does not guarantee that every relevant law, source, exception, jurisdiction, or factual consideration has been identified or that a court, agency, attorney, law-enforcement authority, employer, landlord, or other party will reach the same conclusion.
7. Deadlines and emergencies
Do not rely exclusively on StateLine when a court deadline is approaching, you have been arrested or detained, you face immediate eviction or imminent loss of legal rights, you are subject to an active court order, someone is in immediate danger, or a matter requires emergency legal action. Contact the appropriate emergency service, court, government entity, or licensed attorney when necessary.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use StateLine to violate law, interfere with the service, circumvent technical restrictions, gain unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, systematically extract protected service data without authorization, misrepresent StateLine content as professional legal advice, or facilitate fraud, harassment, threats, or unlawful conduct.
9. Intellectual property
StateLine’s software, design, branding, original content, interfaces, and graphics are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Legal authorities and government materials remain subject to their respective public-domain or licensing status. StateLine does not claim ownership of public law merely because it retrieves, indexes, summarizes, or displays it.
10. Third-party services
StateLine may link to third-party services and legal sources. StateLine does not control their availability, policies, or content.
11. Service changes
StateLine may modify its features and these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated when required, and the effective date will be updated.
12. Current beta
The current beta does not require a StateLine user account and does not currently offer paid subscriptions through this website. Terms for future account, payment, AI-assisted, or other materially different functionality will be updated before those features are represented as available.
